Marcus Evans, founded in 1983, is a global business intelligence and event marketing company with 49 offices in 20+ countries. We produce 80+ Summits annually around the globe. Our events feature insightful thought leadership, industry intelligence, and strategic partnerships between buyers and sellers. We work with world leaders across industries including healthcare, legal, pharmaceutical, investments, energy, and packaging. Our client base is comprised of C-level executives from 98% of existing Fortune 1000 companies.

We are searching for an Account Executive to develop new accounts and manage client experiences within our Legal Summits portfolio. A successful candidate will participate in a hands-on mentorship program with a clear promotion path within the first 5 months. We recognize excellence and are fully committed to developing impactful future leaders.

This is an in-person role located in our Chicago office.

Legal Portfolio Overview

The Legal Summits portfolio includes several flagship events within the division. The Chief Litigation and IP Law Summits are established standards of excellence within the legal industry. New additions such as the IP Litigation Summit and the U.S. General Counsel Summit are rapidly gaining status and reputation. These and other Legal brands are experiencing rapid growth, creating strong leadership opportunities.

In this role, you will be selling to and engaging C-level in-house legal leaders, offering valuable insights and solutions to address their legal challenges and business needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Generating and prospecting new leads through ZoomInfo and LinkedIn Sales Navigator.

  • Contacting, qualifying, and engaging prospects through email, LinkedIn, and cold calling.

  • Negotiating and closing contracts with C-level decision makers by understanding their needs and objectives.

  • Keeping an organized record of sales activity and pipeline in HubSpot.

  • Traveling to destination cities nationwide to support client relationships.

  • Acting on behalf of the company and our clients in delivering exceptional products and services.

Qualifications

  • Sales experience: 1 year of proven B2B or B2C sales experience.

  • Prospecting & outreach: Cold calling and strategic email campaign experience.

  • Emotional intelligence: Strong listening skills, questioning ability, and tactical empathy.

  • Hunter mentality: Determination to close new business.

  • Pipeline management: Strong research, time management, and organizational skills.

  • Leadership: We hire and promote exclusively from within and actively develop top performers.

Compensation & Benefits

  • $42,000 base salary + induction bonus + uncapped commission.

  • $60,000–$80,000 OTE in Year 1, with top performers expected to exceed first-year earnings as they build pipeline and advance.
