We are seeking an experienced Senior PHP Developer for a part-time engagement supporting backend projects aligned with our UK and Germany operations. The role focuses primarily on PHP backend development, with opportunities to contribute to Python (FastAPI)-based modernization initiatives. This role is ideal for senior professionals with strong PHP expertise who prefer flexible working hours while still contributing to impactful backend modernization projects.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend solutions in PHP.
Support legacy systems while contributing to modernization efforts.
Collaborate with distributed teams across the UK, Germany, and India.
Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and release planning.
Assist in developing APIs and integrations with Python-based services.
Optimize performance, ensure data security, and maintain documentation.
Work part-time with flexible hours aligned to Germany time zones.
Must-Have Skills
5+ years of experience in backend development using PHP (Laravel or similar frameworks).
Strong understanding of OOP, MVC design patterns, and REST API architecture.
Experience with MySQL / PostgreSQL databases.
Basic familiarity with Python and willingness to work with FastAPI.
Knowledge of Git, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment workflows.
Strong proficiency in English, with the ability to communicate clearly in both written and spoken form.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Ability to work independently and manage part-time deliverables effectively.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
5+ years of professional PHP development experience.
Prior experience working with distributed or remote teams preferred.
